In June 2018, the Great Exhibition of the North is arriving in Newcastle as a free, summer-long celebration of the North of England’s pioneering spirit.
As the country’s largest cultural event in 2018, it will pack a programme of amazing exhibits, live performances, displays of innovation, new artworks and unforgettable experiences into 80 days.
A major part of the landmark art, design and culture event is a sound installation triggered at precisely 1pm every day, sending a series of steam engine whistles cascading around the ancient city walls. Crafted Projects, owner of the city’s Gunner House, is proud to be supporting the Great Exhibition of the North by hosting one of these whistles on the rooftop of the building, sited directly opposite Central Station.
